Re: Vista 5472 and Media Center

Installed beta drivers from nVidia. No change !
Thinking now about Hauppauge drrivers, which came via w/downloads. Ckecked
Hauppauge site but no beta drivers for Vista seem available.
The problem is vista-specific as MCE works perfectly under XPpro on the same
computer.
Any comments or are there some other possible answers ?

If it were me, yes, I'd install the beta drivers from nVidia. I don't have
any stuttering but my system is a bit faster (3.4Ghz) and I'm running an ATI
x1300. It helps to have at least 1Gb of RAM...if you have less I can see why
you'd have problems.

No need to uninstall existing drivers, just install the web site ones over
what you have...

Thanks to all for the replies. In response;
-I am using the drivers that Vista had with it. Should I replace these
with
downloads from nVidia ? Should I uninstall the others first?
-32 bit vers Vista 5472
-cpu 2.8 Ghz
-Screensaver and all power management functions disabled.

Vista works OK apart from MC. Everything about it is grinding and juddery.
I
also have MCE2005 on a separate partition (XP pro) and it runs very
sweetly.

From what I've heard, ATI has much better drivers than nVidia for Vista
(yeah, thats a change). I assume you got the drivers from the nVidia web
site rather than use what Vista had with it? If not, you should. And I
assume you got the Hauppauge drivers from the Windows Update feature? Are
you running 32-bit or 64-bit Vista? How fast is your CPU?

After watching TV for about 15 mins, media center crashes to black
screen.
I
can get it back by shutting down the Player and restarting it, but all
I
get
is sound and a green screen. A computer restart generally brings it
fully
back but only for ca 15 mins and the cycle repeats:
HP Media Center PC m477UK- MCE 2005
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR PCI(II) Encoder 16
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
IGB RAM

Any ideas please?
