Re: Is my hardware good enough for WMC

Yeah, that's much better. The Hauppauge is kind of like the "Ford pickup
truck" of tuners...works good, lasts a long time. The 9550 will do. I had a
9550 but eventually replaced it with an nVidia 6600GT because ATI's driver
software just ticked me off one too many times. I really like the 6600GT as
it produces a good 1080i signal via DVI. And it only cost maybe $10 more
than the 9550.

You'll definitely need a new video board - nVidia 5200 or better, or ATI
9550 or better. And probably a new tuner - I don't think yours is
supported.
You can get a (old) list of supported hardware by following the link from
my
web site at www.MediaCenterStuff.com on the Downloads page. I'd give you
the
url but apparently my site is down (and I'm on the phone with their tech
support right now trying to get it back up).

I have a computer that is no longer in use and thinking about building
a
media center with it.

Motherboard : Gigabye GA-7N400-L
Graphics Card : Chaintek Nivida GeForce4 MX440-8X 64MB
TV Card : Leadtek Winfast 2000 XP
CPU : AMD 2600XP Athlon
RAM : 1GB Dual channel DDR400

Is it worth buying Windows Media Center and or upgrading some parts on
this
board Or is this just to old now

Thanks Falco
