Re: My Music Quirks?

Yeah, I've got everything tagged correctly - I'm religious for that
sort of thing. I've got ~8k songs and about 2k songs ago I went through
and gave everything a tag.

I haven't really dug into this idea yet, but my theory is that MCE is
looking at ID3v1 tags, even when IDv2 tags are present. Might explain
some of the weirdness.

I'll look into MEEDIO Essentials, thanks for the tip. I really like how
the rest of MCE works, so I'm not sure where I'll end up. Just sucks
that My Music functions so horribly.

In a semi-related note, does MCE support WMP10? A friend of mine who
has used Winamp as long as I have (basically since time began :-P)
switched from that to WMP10 because it has awesome library support.
Anyone have similar mileage?

This has been discussed many times, but I assume you have the
"Album Artist" field filled in on your ID3 tags. That is one of
the main tags used by MCE (and also WMP). If you don't, your library
will never be correct. MCE needs that tag to correctly sort the
albums.
But I agree with you, MS didn't put nearly enough effort into
the MY Music part of MCE. It's slow and clunky, and has no options
for changing how the music is displayed (thumbnail sizes, etc). I
recently set up MEEDIO Essentials on my computer, and while it does take
a while to set it up the way you want, it shows what MCE's Music could
have been if they had put a little more time into it. And Meedio has
a WMP Library import plugin that works perfectly. It says it's for
WMP9, but it worked perfectly on my WMP10 library, and saved me a lot
of time setting up the database in Meedio.
But even Meedio needs the "Album Artist" tag to work correctly.......

Does My Music just ignore ID3 tags? I have files that I KNOW have ID3
tags, yet when MCE loads them up in My Music it doesn't show albums for
said artists. Yet when I play the file... it says what album it's from!
What's the deal here?

Really disapointed with this feature. The rest of MCE is great, but not
a lot of time was sunk into My Music. I'm stuck with running Winamp.
