Sidney,
I am having a similar problem with my system. When I first got my system, this problem didn't exist. But it has shown up over time.
I'm guessing that is has to do with an update. I keep my system updated as much as possible with all of the current updates. I've
seen the closed captioning come and go in the past. Right now it is not working (at least the 2nd time around). Hopefully future
updates will correct these 2 problems.
My problem with sound is very similar to yours. On live TV, it is very quiet. But unlike yours, turning up the volume does make the
audio louder on mine. Sometimes I have to turn up the volume on my TV as well. Now on recorded TV, the volume starts out quiet, but
as soon as I skip forward or backward, the volume jumps up to normal. If I have the volume on the system and on the TV turned up to
compensate for live TV, then it is really quite a shock when the volume jumps up on recorded TV. I'v also notice that the volume
behaves the same way on videos and on DVD's, if I remember correctly.
Hopefully this problem will work itself out, or some one will know what is going on and be able to help us both out.
Hope This Helps
Conan Kelly

I have a new HP computer that has Windows XP Media Center installed on it. It
also has Hauppauge WinTV. I am able to connect my cable to the computer and
view live TV programs through the Live TV option, but the audio is very
faint. If I try to increase the volume, its even more inaudible. How can I
get the volume to come in clear for Live TV?
