Problem Recording to DVD

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I am trying for the first time to record a TV show to DVD. When I go
to the More Programs section, and click on "Record CD/DVD" a pop-up
box says, "Make sure you have a CD/DVD recorder installed" then give
a choice of "Retry" or "Cancel"

I have the sonic encoders installed and of course I have a DVD
Recorder! So what should I look for or do to try and resolve this
issue.
