Re: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for microsoft.public.windows.medi

The part after c:\documents and settings should be your user login ID, and
that's the way Windows normally organizes user data. However, I ignore that
and use my own directories. Specifica applications, such as those in office,
can be set so that their default directory is something different (I keep
everything under D:\DATA). Basically, you should be able to create whatever
directory structure you want, and put your photos there. The software you
use to move your photos from your camera may or may not remember that
directory from run to run.

I have Media Center 2002 puchased as part of a Gateway package. I do not
understand the file naming system for certain files such as My Photos,
sample
as follows: C:\My documents and settings\Owner.YOUR-#########\My
Photos\file name. How can I set the computer to ignore the Owner-number
part
of the heirarchy? Is it necessary? What is it used for? Is it a problem
to
have this attached to files?

Thanks,
Kathy

PS I could not find a thread that related to my key words. This was as
close as I could get.
