This behavior is likely caused by a network driver issue. I suggest
updating your PC's Ethernet card drivers to the latest version available
from your PC OEM's website.
If that does resolve things, please let me know which network card
(make/model) you have in your PC.

I've got a Media Center 2005, Rollup 2, all the latest patches.The
Intel 820 Dual Core
Nvidia 7600
Everything has been working fine without any problems for the last few
months. Last night I bought a 360 and set up up to be a MCE Extender.
install went fine, the media-center app comes up on the 360 just fine. Ican
browse my recorded video and see everything correctly.and
If I try to play something, the 360 manages to play about a second of it
then the Media Center hangs solid and completely. No keyboard, TaskManager
freezes, etc. Only recourse is to use the reset button.
I've tried downloading new video drivers, completely removed all antivirus
and firewalls, etc. I tried reinstalling and there were no errors in the
setup. It happens even if there is noone logged in to the media center.
The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the
dual-core issue, but I don't have access to the HotFix here.
Appreciate any help.
