Re: XP MCE vs. XP Pro

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Wow, a question that is answered 3-5 times A DAY and you STILL got it wrong.

The older MCE2004 was a superset of Windows XP Pro so it supported joining
a
domain but the newer MCE2005 cannot join domains since it's a superset of
XP
Home only which sucks.

Geez! Lucky I was looking for a Intel Centrino Core Duo... A few Turion

X2s were on my list.

I will have to ask my IT department regarding Novell. If anyone else
knows
the answer to this, please post up. It would be nice to have a second
opinion, as some of the staff in our IT department aren't the brightest
crayons in the box. =P

With respect to my first post, I would like to put emphasis on the
last
statement regarding Novell Clients.

Would that bypass the non-domain functionality of MCE? Since it is
it's
own
client?

Probably, but this is a question for the IT support group for your
Novell
LAN. I just checked Novell's site and it just says XP Client without
any
references to Home, Pro or MCE.

Interestingly, the requirements include an 'Intel based PC'. Guess all
the
AMD users are out of luck
