I have what sounds like the same problem, but as far as I can tell I don't
have the ProSet/Wireless software. Is anyone else in the same boat?

HORAYYY! - Thanks Todd, I have finally found out what the problem is. It
is
the Intel
ProSet/Wireless software. I have just set windows to manage the
wirless network and voila connects now.

Thanks very much. I hope this helps out other people :)

It is a clean install of windows media centre - with microsoft updates
using
the windows firewall. The only software i can think of is Intel
ProSet/Wireless software. I will try using the windows default
wireless
software and let you know the result.

If it works with your laptop plugged into the same router as your
PC, this
suggests that the issue is related to a software or configuration
issue on
the PC (e.g. a third-party firewall, privacy software, parental
control
software, etc.). I suggest reviewing the software you have
installed on
your PC and then configuring your firewall to allow Extender traffic

router? as
later
on i tried again with wireless - knowing that media extender works
on xbox
360 and it couldnt find me???

I am having a similar issue. The 360 can connect to the net,
so
there
are
no
cable problems. I have disabled my firewall, (McAfee and
Windows).
There
is
still a connection problem, but it is not persistent, like
Justin
says
soemtimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The set up is
360 to
hub,
hub
to
router, pc to router router to internet, all are wired
connections,
and
the
hub and router are netgear. Is there something I need to
change on
my
router?

Do you have McAfee privacy running?

Disabled that too

I had to completely remove McAfee to get the 360 connecting,
just use
the
built in firewall and the Avast free antivirus now. As soon as
McAfee
was
removed it worked perfectly.
