Yes, genuine MCE remote
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16880100851). I
thought maybe Num Lock had something to do with it, tried switching
that and definately didn't fix it.

You're right, that's how it's supposed to work (like a cell phone). I don't
recall seeing a setting to change the behavior of the remote buttons, maybe
someone else here has. Are you using a genuine MCE remote, i.e. it's
designed for Media Center?

Well I got my Media Center Remote hooked up and I must say I love it.
Much nicer to work with than a keyboard.
One problem, though. When I try to search in My Music, I can't seem to
type a letter with my keypad. I thought maybe multiple presses of one
button (press 2 three times to get 'C') like a cell phone would work,
but that just yields 222. I tried channel up/down to see if maybe I was
in the wrong mode but that didn't seem to be the case. I also can't use
the 'clear' button at the bottom of the remote to backspace. Any ideas?
