I just tested DVD with NVIDIA dvd decoder installed.
It works.. but no video ;)
I can hear the music.. Dolby digital sorround sound obviously works(looked
over my shoulder ;)) After that, i hear its at the main menu for the dvd. But
no video still.
As the progress timer was moving along.. it "printed itself" onto the screen
at each movement.
Look.

Playing dvds or not you need MCE drives, will get the wmv files to play soon,.
I just need to make sure you can play dvds first then we know you have the
right video drives.
Also keep the Nvidia decoder installed.
Driver Installation Hints
"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any
drivers.
Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the
drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.
Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display
drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for "NVIDIA Windows Display
Drivers" or "NVIDIA Display Drivers" and select remove.

Hi Dana
Thanks for your reply.
I did try the nvidia decoder, it didnt make my wmv file work, it did however
allow me to play my dvds in wmp10, not in media center.
What is this MyMovies add in? surely i dont need a third party plugin for
playing WMV files in stock mce.

Since you built this yourself, did you add a DVD decoder? You can use the
nVidia one free for 30 days...
You might need the MyMovies add-in too.

Hello all.
Recently a co-worker of mine informed me that he has msdn account.
We are testing out media center edition.
Installing on my pc
Nvidia 6800GT 256mb PCIX
Amd64 Athlon 4000+
1.75GB ram
80gb HDD
Install nvidia 91.31 drivers
Got it all installed.
I create a WMV file from movie maker (just two pictures slideshow)
Works in media player 10 stock.
Open media center - add desktop to video folders
Open video
I can hear music, but not see video.
The screen where the video would be just prints what was there before i
clicked play.
I can drag along the timeline and adjust volume.. but no video playing.
any ideas?
