Re: Is there a difference?

There is no automatic upgrade, at this time, to MCE 2005. This would have been offered by the OEM's, if at all. To check the version of MCE running on your computer, go to Settings, General, About Media Center.

Sorry to bust in (and with a stupid question to boot!).

I originally had MCE 2002, so I now understand that was upgraded to MCE 2004
with sp2. I have automatic updates with my HP computer, so how can I tell if
I have been upgraded to MCE2005. The product version number in properties
shows 5.1.2600.2180 ... does that mean I have MCE2005? Sorry, but I'm
confused!

MCE 2002 only supported 1 tuner. MCE 2005 with Update Rollup 2 supports 2 analog and 2 over the air HDTV tuners. Other features have been added, and improvements to the experience.

If you do have MCE 2002, installing Windows XP SP2 will upgrade that to MCE 2004. I don't know of any OEM's that were offering MCE 2002 to 2005 upgrades.

I have MCE version 2002. What's the difference between that one and 2005?
Is there a way to upgrade to 2005?
