Re: MCE TV and FM radio suddenly not working

I'm having much the same problem as Valerie. Had a weird meltdown a couple
of months ago and while burning a cd. Computer totally froze up in Nero and
I had to do a manual restart. Disk check ran when windows started up and
deleted several dll files, one of which prevented explorer from even running,
hence no windows. Did a repair install from my mce2005 disks and got windows
running again without losing all my settings. But media center stopped
playing tv, giving me error messages about the tuner being in use by some
other application, even though I have no other applications that use the
tuner. Then tonight after finally getting the media center rollup 2 to
install, I tried the tv again. Got a couple of error messages when media
center started up, then when I attempted to turn on the tuner, got the
dreaded black screen. Any ideas on fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Gary, Thanks for your prompt response.

I had gone through "Settings", "TV", "Set Up TV Signal" several times and
would get to the point to "Choose a working TV signal", which I set correctly
at Channel 3 and just have the black screen and no sound.

Also, my remote does work correctly ... I can tell the channels change on
the cable box.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try running the TV Signal Setup again through Media Center

Within MCE, goto Settings, TV, Set Up TV signal.

I have an HP Media Center PC m1070n with the original Conexant 23880 tuner
card which had worked fine for 2 years. Suddenly, overnight, about 2
weeks
ago, I now have only a black screen for Live TV and the FM radio does not
work.

I hooked up the TV cable connection to a TV and it worked fine, so it is
not
that. I also get a black screen with no audio when I attempt to view on
InterVideo WinDVD creator; but I DO get TV video, but no audio when
attempting to view in Windows movie maker, so it appears the TV tuner is
functioning but not with Media Center.

I checked device manager and everything seems OK. I attempted to update
the
drivers, but no update was available.

I did a System Restore for a month earlier, but that did not solve the
problem. I also contacted HP customer service and they had nothing to
suggest to help.

I checked the Conexant website and could find any updates or downloads for
drivers.

Any suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help given.
