So now you are a successful detective!

That must have been some file...

Glad it helped,

I used WinDirStat to figure it out!!! Thanks so much, it was some Norton Protected Filed I couldn't see with the regular "properties" Windows provides.

As usual, this forum is so freaking useful, I'd be lost without it!

Thanks Gene, Mark

There are two similar programs that make a great graphical representation of the sizes of files and folders on a hard drive under Windows. They maay help you in your detective work (and I should have thought of them sooner!).

Look for:
WinDirStat -- http://windirstat.sourceforge.net/
Sequoia View -- http://www.win.tue.nl/sequoiaview/

This one isn't graphic:
TreeSize Free -- http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/index.shtml

I'm not sure, but you might have to set options to make sure the program you use shows all files, otherwise you might miss a clue or two :-)

The restore folder (used for restore points) and the swap file (AKA virtual memory) are the other things I would suspect as a problem. However, I think Windows would count them in the properties screen. It's a mystery...

Good luck,
Gino

Recycle bin is emptied. When I select all -> Properties on C: I get 9GB and My Documents is only a couple MB. Meaning, something's fishy. because the HD is 30GB.

Thanks for all the help!

Greetings,

I am having problems with space. My C drive tells me it only has 7Gb left on it, but I know for a fact it's easily has 20Gb. I recently converted from Fat32 to NTFS. Can this be the problem.

I can't do certain things because of this faux limitation.

Can someone suggest anything. All of my temporary folders are clear (internet history, disk cleanup done, etc.).

Thanks,
-Mark

How about system restore, recycle bin, etc.?
