Just tried it in Knoppix, again. Was able to move 3GB over to the iPod with
no problem. Definitely a Windows problem.
YES, and instead of making this thread a my player is better than
yours, lets keep it to the real problem, USB and XP!
real life examples :)
i had MANY problems with usb on xp, ipod turns up as "mass storage
device" and i can't connect to it, but it works fine on my laptop
my pda connects fine to mce but not to laptop (also xp)
and a big bummer experience: i once had to go on a long trip where i
needed important files on external storage, they worked fine when i
left, but when i got to my destination "mass storage device" and
therefore not readable, i spend hours on a dialup connection to try to
fix it with no luck!, ended up buying another external cabinet just to
be able to read my files.
so XP and usb is a bitch, it might work today, but what about tomorrow
btw. yes i did all the usual removing of usb devicesm drivers ect.
with no luck, it's like xp just decides "i know this device, but i
wont use it!, lets just tell the user it's a mass storage device :p"
