You can upgrade XP Home to XP Pro.

XP Home to XP MCE is NOT a valid upgrade path.
You can't upgrade to XP MCE from any other XP SKU...

The install DVD says that the upgrade is possible and there are non
problem into compatibilty check.

The installation was without errors and asked me both MCE disks...

But the upgrade was from XPHome to XPPro only...

The code was correctly requested/downloaded from MSDN site.
