Re: MCE 2005 and Dolby 5.1 PLEASE HELP

I get 5.1 output from my DVD's when I play them. There is an option for 2
channel, 5.1 and 7.1 in the audio setup portion of the MCE setup wizard
which should do what you request. You have a lot of ram for basically
anything that can be done with a computer this season, don't need that much.

I have been using computers since 1984. My new system is a Dell Dimension

9150 (3.2 GHz Pentium D, ATI OEM Radeon 256Mb, a REAL (not OEM) Creative
X-FI

Xtreme Music, 4 Gb RAM, Sony CD writer & NEC DVD writer, 500Gb HD, 400Gb
HD,

20" WS LCD.) I have had a lot of problems with this system. Dell
replaced

my motherboard twice and sent me a real (not OEM) X-FI when their OEM
cards

failed 3 times. (BTW, their OEM's won't do Dolby Surround Pro-Logic.)

My (REAL) X-FI has outputs for Dolby 5.1 and I have Dell 5.1 speakers. I

bought Sonic's "My CinePlayer" because it said it output 5.1. It doesn't
on

my system but does a good job emulating it on headphones. I have

Creative's MCE App but all it offers is Dolby Surround Pro-Logic which
works

but I want 5.1 either in or out of (if necessary) MCE.

I also have InterVideo's WinDVD 7 Silver but it won't even work. It came

with another app, DVD Copy 4. (I CAN use its Mpeg decoders for MCE and
WMP

10, though.) Creative says InterVideo's WinDVD is supposed to output 5.1.

I am willing to change Sound Cards or Software but I don't know what to
get.

Does MCE 2005 SUPPORT Dolby 5.1? It says DOLBY DIGITAL but that doesn't
mean

5.1, at least on my system.
