Re: Xbox 360 Session Terminated

Your logs indicate that there are multiple bad things causing the issues
you're seeing (i.e. there isn't a single root cause for the behavior you
see). Because of this, we (Jenelle and I) think that rolling your PC back
to an earlier system restore point/refreshing your Windows install is the
best thing to do. Although this is not especially fun, it is the quickest
way to get things back to a clean/working state.

One other piece of information. I have recently heard that there may be
some
third party apps that are changing the registry value that indicates
what
version of Media Center is installed. You may consider reviewing the
following regkey to determine that this has not happened on your PC.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media
Center

If MCE rollup2 has been installed the Indent value should be 4.0.

I am not aware of any other version of this tool. What I am attempting
to
get is a listing of the Media Center binaries, a system snapshot and
the
eventvwr logs. This is done very easily with the MCDiag tool. Our
secondary
option is for you to do all this manually.

To gather binary data do the following:
Is a cmd window change to the .\windows\ehome directory.
Type "dir /s >ehome.txt"

To gather a msinfo32 snaphost select Start, Run, MSINFO32.exe. Save
the
snapshot by selecting File, Save. Save as a NFO.

Gather Eventvwr logs by opening eventvwr (Start, Run, Eventvwr)
Select
the
Application Log. Save the logs file by selecting Action, Save Log
file
As
and save it as a .evt file. Repeat this for the Security and System
event.

Please send all to msft_mcx at hotmail

No, not that I'm aware of. Is there anything I can do to correct
this
and
get
the Diag tool to install.
I have had the previous version of MCE Diag install perfectly. I
uninstalled
it when I realised I no longer needed it. Would the previous version
still
install ? Is there anywhere I could get this as I've serched the net
and
not
found it.

I checked with someone more familiar with the MCdiag tool and they

than Media Center. Have you had any issues in the past where tools
did
not
detect this as a MCE PC?

Hi Jenelle,

No it's not the 64bit version. I've tried running the installer
straight
from net and also copying to hard drive, still the same result.

Is your Media Center a 64 bit OS? Are you installing straight

The installer for MCE Diagnostics will not work for me. It
ceases
just
before
the end of installing with the following error:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A
program
run
as
part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your
personnel or
package vendor."

I have had the previous MCE Diag version installed and worked
fine
but
I
uninstalled it a few months ago. Have I any other options ?

Stephen,
We will need to gather more data about your current PC

Could
you
download the Windows XP Media Center Diagnostics Kit from

https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=CE06D6A7-DE56-4D82-BF5F-6F6E1296A934&displaylang=en,
capture a machine snapshot using the MCDiag tool, and send it
to
msft_mcx
at
hotmail? (and then tell me once you've done this)

Also when I try to run the MCE Network Peformance Tuner I

The

Could this be a part of the problem ?

I've updated my ethernet network driver but still the

I

Try
