No, there's no way around the stored/cached passwords that I know of. And Media Center is an add-on to XP Pro, already.

thans for the information :).
is it possible to get around it? or can you run the media portion on top of
xp pro ?

This is a limitation of the Media Center version of Windows XP Pro. Along with the inability to join a domain, other than at initial installation. MCE costs less than Pro, so some features are missing. These happen to be the only ones.

My user is an administrator, and when I connect to network resources that
require a password (including mapping network drives), it lets me access them
fine until I reboot/log off the computer and then it prompts for the password
again.
I tried going into "Stored User Names and Passwords" to "add" the
server/username/password etc but there is no add button.
Is it me, or is XP MCE limited in this way ?
the only way I can get around it is to re-enable the guest account on the
machine I am trying to access and then (of course) it doesnt prompt for a
password at all. But this is not being security conscious is it?
