Re: Trouble getting TV signal from Dishnetwork

I'm still having trouble. I am now seeing a picture, but it keeps breaking
up similar to a weak signal, and there is no sound on TV. I have sound for
all other functrions, just not TV. Do I possibly have a bad s-video cable?
If I bypass the MCE system I have no issues, so I know it a good satellite
feed. Any thoughts? I'm also still unable to download the guide due to
error 13. Could these issues be related>

If you use S Video (or a composite video) input, you also have to connect
the sound inputs (audio L and R) from (presumably) your STB's audio outputs.

They should be plugged into your tv tuner's audio inputs, not your sound
card's audio inputs.

Yes, S-Video from the cable box to the tuner card will provide better
video resolution.

MCE has to be set up to use the S-Video input.

I do not have a second monitor attached. Are you suggesting I stay
S-video
throughout, so S-video from the STB to my TV tuner card? I thought the
same
thing and tried it, but then I get nothing at all on the TV screen...

I have just built a new MCE system and am having trouble setting up my
TV
signal. When I go into TV setup and get to the point where I search
for a
signal, I get solid black in the signal box. I tried changing the
signal
from channel 4, to channel 3 and no luck. I also tried S-video 1 and
every
other option, but nothing works. I have coax going from the STB to a
Avermedia MCE 500 dual TV tuner. My outgoing connection is S-video
from an
ASUS 6600 graphics card to my TV. Every other aspect of MCE is
running
fine,
but I cannot get a TV signal. Any suggestions out there?

Do you also have a regular monitor attached? Try setting it up without
the
TV. One variable at a time.

You really do want S-Video.
