I am on a private network. What happens is, when I go to click media center
button on the xbo 360 it brings up the link for extender. I then click the
media center button again to continue and it checks the network. It then
gives me the number to put into the computer and it instantly start loading
up media center on the 360 before I start puting in the numbers. The numbers
only show for a few seconds. I end up being stuck on the contacting screen on
my 360 and getting the same error on my computer. What else is there to do?
It's almost like my 360 can find my computer but my computer can't find my
360.

Then...
"PC Configuration Error" received during Extender setup
Description: If the Vista beta PC computer name matches the username of the
user logged in when attempting to add an Extender, the following error
message is generated during setup. "PC Configuration Error An error occurred
while configuring extender settings. Restart your extender and PC and try
setup again."
Resolution: Create or switch to a new user account that does not match the
computer name and restart the setup process.

Yes, I live in the US. Since my post I have got it to kinda work but i'm
still having problems. I get the following error: "An error occured while
configuring extender settings. Restart your extender and PC and try setup
again." During this error my Xbox 360 is displaying a loading screen that
says "Windows Media Center" and it says "contacting.." underneath that. I
tried restarting both systems and I still get same error. I also tried
deleting the save from the memory on the 360 and tring it again, it
displays
a diferent setup code but I still get same error.

Are you in the US? Only US Xbox 360 will work.
You should really post in the Vista newsgroups.

I can't get it to work. I follow the instructions at
http://www.xbox.com/pcsetup and it's still not working. I'm connected
to
my
xbox 360 through a wired network using a Dlink DSS-5+ 10/100 Switch.
Both
my
computer and the xbox 360 have access to the internet through the
network
so
everything is connected correctly. When following the instructions it
says
that it can't detect my xbox 360. Is there something that i'm missing
or
not
doing?
