Disc 1 of MCE 2005 *is* Windows XP Pro SP2
Insert that disc and it should work.
If it doesn't, point the computer toward the i386 directory.
You DO NOT have to install SP2 on MCE2005. MCE2005 already has SP2
included.

Actually, the error I was getting was:
Setup cannot copy the file staxmem.dll. Please insert the "Windows XP
Professional Service Pack 2 CD".
I guess that I did not install SP2, I looked at all the updates in the
programs list and it wasn't there. I just know that I have kept completely
up to date on all recommended updates.
I found the following article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=894351
I followed the instructions, but when it got to the part about please put
your SP 2 disc in the cd drive, I don't have an SP 2 disc. I have two
Media Center 2005 discs (disc 1 and disc 2) that came with the computer.
Neither say SP 2 on them.
So I tried to continue installing from the i386 directory recently copied
to my hard drive with the same results. Nothing is helping. I also tried
putting the Media Center 2005 disc 1 in and typing
xpsp2 /integrate:D:\winxp
It said that xpsp2 is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Any other suggestions?

There was no need to install SP2, MCE 2005 has it included.

I know how to install IIS. I've installed it many times on many computers.
The
problem is that it keeps asking me for the disk even though I've put it
in and
it recognizes that I've put a disk in, but then asks me the same question
again (as if I've put in the wrong disk).
I'm thinking because I've put Service Pack 2 on since the installation
and the
original disk isn't even service pack 1.
It just keeps asking me to insert Windows XP Service Pack 2 disk into the
drive. I've inserted both disks. It doesn't make any difference. Just
keeps
asking me the same question. Its the right disk. I only have one (2-disc
set).
I know they're the same ones that I used to install the first time.
Thanks.

Hello,
I've got MCE 2005 installed and since then have applied several updates
and
service packs so that everything is now completely current with the OS.
I now have the problem that I'm trying to install IIS on the machine and
it
says: "Please install the disk titled Windows XP Professional Service
Pack
2".
Well, I place the disk that I installed from (tried both disks) in the
tray
and hit "OK" and it just keeps asking the same question. I'm assuming
that
its
because the disk that I'm putting in is not Service Pack 2, but that's
the
disk that I originally installed it from.
What do I do? I need IIS installed now. Do I remove Service Pack 2 and
all
the
updates since I installed and then install IIS and then re-apply all the
updates? Or is there another solution?
