Re: MCE Remote not working in Vista

I've had the IR Receiver go AWOL, completely, in the 32 bit build of Vista. Only a format and reinstall would bring it back.

Thank you for the suggestion but I had already tried that. Tried it again
tonight, plugging the USB IR receiver into a couple of other ports and
powering the PC off and on but did not help. The keyboard with joystick mouse
is also IR and that works fine. Before installing Vista beta 2 the MCE IR
remote worked along with the keyboard.. The IR receiver somehow received both
and knew which was which.

Not sure what else to try. One that mystfies me is that there is no IR
device shown in Device Manager. I expected to see a device and so have the
option of updating drivers.

unplug the USB receiver and plug it in again, or plug it in to a

MCE in Vista Beta 2 is working fine for me except for the remote control. My
infra red keyboard with built on joystick "mouse" works fine but not the
remote. They both worked in Win XP with MCE 2005.

I've looked for settings to switch on the detection of the the remote but
cannot find anything to enable it. I know the batteries are ok because I
replaced them and the red light on the remote flickers.

Any advice much appreciated!
