Since you can't load the drivers on the Windows XP Home, Pro or Tablet PC
edition, it stands to figure that the remote keyboard won't work outside of
Media Center.
If you could jam the drivers into the other SKU's, it might work, but it is
NOT supported by Microsoft.

Nobody answered this very basic question, which is also my problem:
Does the MC remote keyboard work when NOT in media center? I have that
keyboard running fine in media center, but as soon as I exit and get
back to normal Windows XP, the keyboard does not work anymore, which I
think does not make any sense... Is there a setting or a driver I need
to get it working all the time?
Thanks,
Benoit

Yes, I found it out the expensive way. The keyboard DOES NOT comes
bundled
with the usb receiver. I have to buy it seperately. So will it work on a
Media Center PC when using Window XP e.g. words excel etc?

In addition to the receiver, there is a specific update that is
required to use the Media Center Keyboard. That update is for Media
Center PC's. It may not even install on a non-MCE machine.

already has
the receiver on their Media Center PC. It may work, but you'll need
the receiver
from a Media Center PC. There are surely cheaper alternatives for
long range
wireless keyboards.
