BINGO....
I think you issue is Microsoft Media Connect..........I am pretty sure that
is "not" compatiable with Media Center Extenders.....
While I know the names are 'close' they do not support the same devices.
Microsoft should really rename the product, it causes so much confusion.
I would uninstall it and see what happens then...

Yeah I know it is hard to trouble shoot with all details . But based on the.
4h trouble shooting wih xbox support and seeing the fact that when i do start
my pc it recognizes the xbox device, I think it is very unlikely it is the
setup (hence that is why xbox referred me to windows support!). Actually with
xbox support we even tried to hook xbox directly to media center and manually
dealt with IP addresses. But it always fails on this user profile piece -
anyway here some more info to your questions:
* Currently wired (i ordered my wireless) through linksys router (model
BEFW11S4). Media PC is wired into this router, and xbox is wired into router.
During setup I have no other devicces connected (normally have my laptops
wirlessly connected for internet/printing). Wired i should give 100Mpbs.
* Yes it is part of workgroup
* during installing no other computers connected to router
* Yes i have windows media connect installed (I assume that came when i
bought machine)
* I actually kept my media PC very clean. Besides MS office, some google
apps, spybot (before lunch), some picture software, etc the machine is clean
from other external software
* No local account are created - except the 2 admins that I said up once
* No other hardware - xbox360 was first to extend my media
* Tried originally with xbox cable, but will try tonight with other cable,
but as said I don't think problem is in hardware connection. Somehow i have
the feeling the xbox tries to create some sort of (user) account which it
isn't allowed to do (for whatever reason); but you are right we should
eliminate all external factors first.
thanks, look forward for furhter help...

Describe your network setup? Wired / Wireless
Routers, switches, speeds?
For Domain,
Right click 'My computer"
click "Properties"
Click "Computer Name" tab
Part of a Domain or Workgroup?
Any other computers in your enviroment?
Windows Media Connect installed? This is different than the Microsoft XBOX
software needed on the local pc, it was used for PlayforSure devices?
Open Document and Settings on the c:\ drive
Do you see MCX1, MCX2...these are the local accouts that extenders use and
what your computer is trying to create.
What other 3rd party software do you have installed?
3rd Party hardware? Roku, PlayforSure devices, other music extenders
I know it sounds silly, but try another cable...maybe you have a bad patch
cord.
If the XBOX360 and PC are in different rooms, can you move them into the
same room on a switch...just the two of them only?

Thank buckeyeboy for further suggestions. Just tried over lunch.
Unfortunatelly still unsuccessful.
* I do have MCE2 2005 rollup installed, and always install latest updates
(manually rechecked again for updates)
* Did remove Windows defender
* I had Spybot installed, and removed that
* As far as I know my computer is not part of domain
* I'm still new to xbox world, but yeah i did sign up for xboxLive. Just
checked and I can get to all the stuff on my xbox related to xboxLive, so
that seems working fine.
* I assume MC2005 is a clean install, because I bought my new media PC
december 2005 from HP.
hope this helps, i really was hopeful after removing windows defender, but
unfortunatelly didn't work.

MCE2 2005 Rollup 2 installed?
Windows Defender installed?
(Remove for extender support)
Windows AntiSpyware Beta 1 installed?
(Remove for extender support)
Is your computer joined to a DOMAIN?
(possible to remove)
XBOX360 connected to XBOXLive?
All Windows Updates applied?
(actually you should be using Microsoft update now, not Windows update)
Do you have a clean install of Media Center 2005 or was it an upgrade from
2002?
Wired or wireless?

I've been using my Media Center PC with MS XP Media Center 2005 edition
for
the last 6+ months very successfully. Last weekend I bought a xbox 360 to
extend my media from my PC to the living room. However, when installing
the
"Xbox 360 Media Setup" software on my media center PC, I continiously
(after
more than 10 tries) get following error message:
"Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded.
Check that you are connected to the network, or that your network
is functioning correctly. If this problem persists, contact your
network administrator. "
I've called the xbox support line and tried to trouble shoot with them.
Unsuccessfully so far! On advice during setup of the xbox extender
software
on my pc I disabled all firewalls and virus scanners - also without
success.
When I reboot my computer my PC does "see" the xbox on my network, but as
said installation of extender software continous to fail with above error.
Xbox support was (after 4 hours) referring me to a windows support number,
who then referred me to my PC provider!
Oh yeah before I forget, I'm logged in with an adinistrator account (not
sure if it is related but I do have 2 administrator accounts setup on my
media center PC). And I also tried running "net users" and also "User
Profile
Hive Cleanup Service"
So I was hoping that there is anyone who maybe could help me solve this
issue or has seen this error before?
thanks
