Re: connecting Xbox 360 and media center - profile cannot be loade

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Thank buckeyeboy for further suggestions. Just tried over lunch.
Unfortunatelly still unsuccessful.

* I do have MCE2 2005 rollup installed, and always install latest updates
(manually rechecked again for updates)
* Did remove Windows defender
* I had Spybot installed, and removed that
* As far as I know my computer is not part of domain
* I'm still new to xbox world, but yeah i did sign up for xboxLive. Just
checked and I can get to all the stuff on my xbox related to xboxLive, so
that seems working fine.
* I assume MC2005 is a clean install, because I bought my new media PC
december 2005 from HP.

hope this helps, i really was hopeful after removing windows defender, but
unfortunatelly didn't work.

MCE2 2005 Rollup 2 installed?
Windows Defender installed?
(Remove for extender support)
Windows AntiSpyware Beta 1 installed?

Is your computer joined to a DOMAIN?
(possible to remove)
XBOX360 connected to XBOXLive?
All Windows Updates applied?
(actually you should be using Microsoft update now, not Windows update)
Do you have a clean install of Media Center 2005 or was it an upgrade from
2002?

Wired or wireless?

I've been using my Media Center PC with MS XP Media Center 2005 edition
for
the last 6+ months very successfully. Last weekend I bought a xbox 360 to
extend my media from my PC to the living room. However, when installing
the
"Xbox 360 Media Setup" software on my media center PC, I continiously
(after
more than 10 tries) get following error message:

"Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded.
Check that you are connected to the network, or that your network
is functioning correctly. If this problem persists, contact your
network administrator. "

I've called the xbox support line and tried to trouble shoot with them.
Unsuccessfully so far! On advice during setup of the xbox extender
software
on my pc I disabled all firewalls and virus scanners - also without
success.

When I reboot my computer my PC does "see" the xbox on my network, but as
said installation of extender software continous to fail with above error.
Xbox support was (after 4 hours) referring me to a windows support number,
who then referred me to my PC provider!

Oh yeah before I forget, I'm logged in with an adinistrator account (not
sure if it is related but I do have 2 administrator accounts setup on my
media center PC). And I also tried running "net users" and also "User
Profile
Hive Cleanup Service"

So I was hoping that there is anyone who maybe could help me solve this
issue or has seen this error before?

thanks
