Re: theatre pro 550 tuner w/o remote?

Having the PCI Express version would save you a PCI slot (which seem to be
in shorter supply these days) assuming your motherboard can handle it. If
it can't, then I guess it is sort of obvious what other choice you are
limited to.

Functionally, there should be no difference between the two.

You might also want to see if any cards are available on Ebay. Obviously,
YMMV.

Hi Gary:
Thanks for your input. I have been googling for a U.S. supplier of the
Sapphire Theatrix Theatre 550 Pro Lite-Version as you suggested. So far
I've
only found Canadian suppliers. Not sure of the ins & outs of buying
"international", so I'll keep looking. The Canadian version runs about
73.00
U.S. I've found some ati theatre 550 pro cards for around 80.00 with
remote
etc, but am hoping to find a less-expensive version LOL. Some of the
versions
I've found are PCI Express 1x. Not sure if they would be of any benefit
since
the card is analog and probably wouldn't work faster on PCI Express?
Also, I
only have one PCI Express x1 slot and may need it for some HDTV product in
the future? Thanks again for pointing out the Pro Lite version.

I know you can get a Sapphire Theatrix Theatre 550 Pro Lite-Version (it
is
just 'card' only... no cables, no remote, just the card). It should work
just as well as the ATI product (it still uses ATI chips and all that).
I've seen this product at various stores up here in Canada, so it should
just as well be available elsewhere.

I don't think ATI themselves make a bare kit version of their ATI TV
Wonder
Elite product (i.e. it only comes in the retail boxed version) but I
could
be wrong (I've just never seen it sold that way).

Hi all:
I recently replaced the ati theatre 550 pro tuner card in my computer
due
to failure. I replaced it with the Hauppauge PVR 150 card. Didn't
have
FM
and the picture isn't as good as the ati card was. So, I thot I'd add
an
ati 550 tuner as a second card but already have two remotes and all the
software. I can't seem to find a way to buy the ati tuner card without
the
remote. Is something like that available? I was surprised to see that
the
Hauppage card has only 3 recording qualities and their highest isn't as
good
as the ATI was. Guess the PVR 250 would have been a better choice.
OOPS.
Oh well.......if someone knows of a seller of "bare" hardware, it
would
probably be my best choice.
