First, for Media Center functionality, do not use the included software or drivers that came with the unit. Media Center USB PVR's are packaged differently. They do not include a remote or the WinTV software, only the Media Center drivers. Of course, they do package an MCE Kit, but that remote is the distinctive Microsoft style.

The above Remote comes with the IR receiver and emitters to control your set top box.
You need to download the Media Center drivers from Hauppauge

And last but not least, for Live or Recorded TV functionality, you need to have a DVD Decoder installed, that is Media Center compatible.

I am trying to install the Hauppauge external tuner with a Comcast set top.
digital box on my AMD Athlon 64 processor, but I am having several problems.
1. The highest tv channel that is found is 117, and this is not correct.
This is with the software that comes with Hauupage. In media center, I am
able to download the guide, and the higher channels are listed, but I am not
able to view live tv--it just hangs or I get the message that no tuner is
installed, and when I try to record, nothing records; although, mc indicates
it will record.
2. While I can view tv on my laptop using the software that came with
Hauppage and not MCE, I am unable to record in this also. I have scheduled
several recordings and none worked. However, I did not receive an error of
any kind. It just didn't do anything.
3. I recently read in this newsgroup that the IR transmitter and remote that
comes with the Hauppage PVR USB2 does not work in MCE. What problems does it
experience because it does indicate MCE on the remote? I also read that
there is no need to download any of the software, other than the driver for
the MCE from the Hauppage CD. Is this true?
In addition to the hardware listed above, my system has ATI Radeon Xpress
200M graphics with 64 mb shared video memory. The hard drive is 100 gb, 4200
rpm. It also uses a wireless connection. I did download and install
mcd_cd_v31b.
As you can tell, I am learning as I go, and I would really appreciate any
help in getting this all working.
Thank you,
Coleen
