I also don't know what you're really wanting to do but have a lot of.
experience dealing with music folders, info, album art, and Media Center.
Media Center actually gets the album cover info from the Windows XP folder
properties where the album's song files are stored. The album art is often
available automatically at the Microsoft metabase (All Media Guide?), which
downloads as hidden files into the album's music folder, typically organized
by artist and album under My Music. (As Nickyrock said, this often doesn't
work well). I download the art and song info using Windows Media Player
(right click on album and click Find Album Info). Occasionally I have to
reapply the picture properties of the album folder using Windows Explorer in
order for Media Center to pick up the album art.
To change the album INFO, use Windows Media Player, which allows you to
complete metadata for the individual songs. To change album ART manually (if
WMP didn't get it or it's an unusual cover), find the album cover photograph
on the Internet or even scan the cover in or photograph it, put the jpg in
your album folder and make a copy of the jpg it called Folder.jpg. If the
cover you want isn't showing in MCE, right-click on the album folder in
Explorer, click Properties-Customize-Choose Picture, and then choose the
Folder.jpg. Click Apply or OK. Media Center should then pick it up the next
time you invoke My Music.
Hope we're getting closer. Sorry if we're not.

What I mean is i have a large song library arranged by album. Media Centre
has access to a large database of album covers and shows the album covers
when you play the album. What I would like to know is whether i can have
access to the album cover database so i can manually change the album info to
match it, thereby generating the album cover for all my albums in media
center.

not exactly sure what your asking, but I'll try and offer some info... by
default your my music folder in my documents is where your music should be
so everything is nice and tidy in one location (however you can have music
anywhee and add different locations within media center, or media player)
which is easiest to maintain, and work with. media center/ media player
looks up info and imports it from AMG (All Media Guide) online and stores
album art in the location where the music files reside, but they are hidden
image files. Now the automatic functionallity of media center/ media player
is hit and miss at getting information and album art. what I mean is it does
not always get the correct info and/or album art, at least that has been my
personal experience. So I do thing the hard way and manage all information
and album art manually to ensure it is all correct. A big task that most
would not indulge in, especially when managing some 20,000 song collections.
While I seemed to have babbled a bit here, I hope somehow I have helped
answer your question.

i would like to know if there is any way to view the album cover database
and
see how the albums are named in the database, so media center will
generate
the covers for the albums
