I am asking for ways to improve TV quality on my near brand new 5032 gateway.
As a side question: so the videocard that came with the computer is on the
motherboard, and not the chip?

It sounds like your problem might be just tv quality? I see your asking.
about video cards and integrated tuners but what problem are you asking for
help with? Its hard to validate a solution when the problem and what your
seeing is not known. This might be simple interference, it could be the
decoder your running, it might be your screen settings, it might be the
bitrate/quality your picking for recordings. It might be the quality of
your monitor.
the shared video memory isn't bad for mce. the integrated tuner is going to
require a software encoder which is going to take a lot of your cpu to
process tv. If your trying to change your tuner, I would concentrate more
on what tuner you have and what others there are to pick from. Also keep in
mind your warrenty. You might want to try all the things you can before you
pick open the box and void all manufacturer support.

Bryan, "my specs aren't that bad", granted, but I want a superior image.
I
don't mind dropping a few bucks to improve my picture quality, perhaps
some
software, and a videocard with a seperate TV tuner built on. (Is the TV
tuner built on my 5032 gateway on the motherboard on the Nvidia 6100
chip?)
The images not terrible, but there's no way this is the best quality TV
MCE
has to offer. The card I have in mind is the 256 dedicated memory
All-In-Wonder, think it's good? Is it possible that a superior card could
improve my picture quality? How can I improve it all around? If it's
possible, I'd appreciate a little list of things I could do. Thanks :)

Yout specs aren't that bad. The 6100 onboard is the same as a 6200 video
card from nvidia. I think you just need to spend a little time with the
built into media center adjustment videos which you'll find in settings
and
adjust your lcd monitor for the best playback. Another good source for
learning how to adjust your mce is inside the manual for the new nvidia
dualtv tuners. you'll find that manual for download on the nvidia
website.
Since your nvidia based, a lot of the info will apply to your hardware.
For
the stuff you don't have listed in that manual, the concepts are the same
and it goes over what your trying to achieve and how it should look very
well.

I would like to know a list of ways I can improve the picture quality of
TV
on my computer, I am using a 17 inch Gateway LCD, an Nvidia 6100
graphics
card, an amd 4200 dual core with a TV tuner built in out of the box,
with
a
gig of ram (minus 256 for integrated video). I've heard about
decoders,
and
I want to update my videocard too...However I do not know the exact
effects
these would create. I would really appreciate a list of ways to
improve
my
picture quality, proper downloads, ram, what-not. I would appreciate a
response on the effect of a different video card on the TV quality as
well.
Thanks :) I eagerly await your responses.
