The difference could be caused by not having XP2 installed on both computers
since XP2 added the XP firewall which may be configured by default to block
certain connections.
Also if you have sofware which for which the license is only for one machine
when you try to install it on another machine it could be blocked and you
would have to contact the vendor of that software for a solution or extra
license.

I cannot load some software on my new computer due to licencing issues. It
loads fine on Windows XP pro (my old computer) but will not load on Media
Center. Does anyone know specifically what security options have been
"secretly" written into Media Center?
