Thanks for the reply Jason.
I will try this again. I did try to put Disc 1 back in already...but didn't
work. I will try again making sure to point at the i386 directory. Hope
this works!

You are suppose to put disc 1 (which is WIndows XP Pro SP2) back in when you.
are prompted for the SP2 disc.
You may have to point it to the i386 directory.
Your best recourse at this time is to start fresh (do a clean install) as
your currently installation is pretty much going to be screwed up (and it's
really not worth fixing).

I am building a Media Center PC. It is all assembled and seems to be
working
well, however, I cannot get Windows XP MCE 2005 to install correctly. I
purchased the OEM version of MCE 2005 with my CPU. I received 3 CD's,
Windows XP Media Center Edition Discs 1 and 2....and a disc labled
"Updates
for Version 2005".
I have verified with Microsoft that it is a legitimate copy of the OS.
When I install...everything goes fine for awhile....but with 22 minutes
left
I am prompted to insert the disc labeled "Windows XP Professional Service
Pack 2". The system will not accept any of the three discs which came
with
my purchase. I can click cancel and the installation resumes and
eventually
starts Windows...but there are problems. Many files are obviously
missing....most of the programs under the Start menu won't run. I click
on
them and it does nothing.
I have tried using the Repair utility, but get the same results.
I have a disk with Microsoft XP Professional (includes Service Pack 2) and
tried inserting this at the "insert Microsoft XP Professional Service Pack
2"
prompt...which actually worked for a few minutes....and it copied a few
files, but then prompted me again for the disc.
I called Microsoft support...but they can't help without arranging a "call
back"....which won't happen till next week. I would really like to get
this
thing going TODAY!!
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
