Re: MCE 2005 Crashes few times a week - No Errors whatsoever

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Two observations, which are only probably marginally helpful:

1. Who's the manufacturer of your memory? Personally, I stick with only
name brand memory... your mileage may vary, but I like the comfort of
knowing who to blame if it fails.

2. Try installing some kind of program that causes the CPU to be under
heavy load all the time (e.g. like the Seti@home screensaver or somesuch),
and watch the temperature on your CPU temperature monitor to see if you're
having any heat dissapation problems. You don't say what kind of fan you
have... maybe it's the standard one... but your equipment list I believe is
all pretty heat producing... it's possible that may be an issue. Maybe. (I
think you should have something on your driver disk that can monitor the CPU
temp from windows... unfortunately, the Asus site is down at present, so I
cannot be sure. There are free alternatives out there if not.)

You didn't say if you're overclocking, but I am assuming you are not. (And
if you are, don't. :-) )

Oh, one last thought, who's the manufacturer of your hard drive?

Any BIOS configuration or Suggestions to trace the problem ???

I am running Win XP 2005 Media Center Edition.

Every now and then , System freezes and I cannot use mouse or
keyboard. After 5-10 minutes, System reboots itself.

This happens several times in week. No ERROR messages or system
dump. I did format and reinstall the O/S, but did not help.

Any suggestions...

Hardware problem.

Of course, determining what KIND of hardware problem is the trick.

Generally speaking, it's usually:

CPU
Memory
Hard drive

(in that order, from my experience. Other people will say different
orders... it's all a matter of what you've been subjected to.)

However, it could be a whole host of other things too...

Did you build your machine, or did you purchase it with a warrenty?

Oh, and you're not overclocking, are you?
