Re: DVD Playback

It is WinDVD 5

I have updated my graphics drivers, Motherboard drivers and now Media Center
crashes along with the other programs when I try to play DVDs.

Other videos work it is just DVDs, but I have been able to install from DVDs
and can view the files on the DVD

Which version of WinDVD? On my MCE I ran with WinDVD v6 until v7 came out
and it seemed quite happy with both (although I don't think I had them
installed simultaneously). Do you have the latest version of the nVidia
graphics from www.nvidia.com?

Can you play any videos? DVDs?

I'm presuming the installation of MCE 2005 was clean... and that you
remembered the motherboard chipset utilities and drivers.

Any indications of problems in Device Manager?

Its PowerDVD 5 and yes. same problem after uninstalling and re-installing.

I also tried to install intervideo winDVD and got an error during set-up.

Ran that program and got told the codec was compaitable with MCE but
not
with
WMP synchronisation. I checked for updates and found 1, when I tried to
install I got "catastrophic failure" now it doesn't display that codec.

Just upgraded my PC and decided to install Windows XP MCE,
everything
works
fine except DVD playback. It doesn't seem to work using any program,
I
have
Cyberlink PowerDVD installed but it just crashes when I attempt to
play
DVDs
same with WMP and Real Player. MCE says there is a decoder problem.

My Specs are:
AMD Athalon 64 X2 3800+
Dual xfx GeForce 7800GT Extreme Editions
1GB DDR Ram
250GB HDD
