Re: Xbox does not recognize wireless A connection for MCE setup

In particular, please check the Application, System, and Security Event
Viewer logs (right click My Computer --> Manage) for any errors
corresponding to the time that you tried to get set up/connected and then
post them here.

Also, please post the contents of your DvcSetup.log and DvcConn.log files
from c:\windows.

i don't have the Xbox 360 wireless adapter or the Linksys A/G router
BUT - when you say you checked the router and everything was set up
properly, can you verify that the SSID name for A and G are different
and that you are NOT hiding the SSIDs?

have you installed all the updates for MCE 2005 including Update
Rollup 2 and all the subsequent fixes?

What do the logs and event viewer on the PC show?

Got a new XBox to go along with the MCE PC. I seem to have several
issues.
I have a Linksys a/g router. The first rub is that when I turn on Xbox,
it
seems to only recognize the g is available?? I have checked everything
on
the router and all is fine and enabled.

The other is I thought I might as well go ahead and set it up under the
"g".
So I start the steps, go throught the exterder download and all seems
well
right up until the TV goes to the Black Media Center screen and the
entender
software says "there was an error completing your setup please call your
PC
manufacture if continues (which it has bothg times I have tried). The
odd
thing is, the extender software still would then seem installed, shows
the
xbox, I added sharing files etc - but then back to Xbox and it does not
recognize the Computer. Even though the thing is connected and shows the
wireless G connection.

WOW how frustrating. I have played and tried for hours. I have a top of
the line PC, and HDTV plasma, a good (brand new Wireless a/g router, Xbox
360
with a $100 adapter and I cant get the freakin thing to stream some
cheesy
pictures which is the main reason (along with music - I have tivo for
video)
I got it!!

So.... I am $500 into a new Xbox360, $100 into an adaptor and $120 into a
new router becuase I read I can do this - and ... nope. Sorry to vent,
just
darn frustrating!! Aside from the wife getting irratated with the time
allocation.

HELP!!
