Thanks, you have given me some good ideas,
I have been trying to find the link and just commented on ati's site how
difficult it is to find it. I would like to run both MCE and MMC.
Have you been able to get the FM tuner to work in MCE? If so do you know if
ati has them hidden on there web site some where?
Thanks

As I said before you have to find the link at the ATI Websited on installing.
an AIW card to work with MCE and it will tell you the exact steps to follow
by using the MMC ATI application. When using the AIW card with MCE you will
not actually be running the MMC application but you will be using the
software encoder that comes with and the DVD Decoder that comes with it. If
I had the link to the procedure to follow on the ATI site I would provide it
to you but since I do not and nobody else has provided it yet on this thread
you will have to find it yourself.

So if I understand, remove and uninstall the HDTV card. Install just the
x1800 drivers and setup mce and get it working. Then install the HDTV card
and its drivers. Last install ati MMC so it see both cards.
After that how do I configure mce to see the new HDTV card? Do I rerun the
mce setup or is there another way to configure an additional tune or in
this
case the digital tuner? In the past if I install ATI MMC before the HDTV
card ati MMC does not see the HDTV card.
One note many install ago I don't know how I did it but I did have both
analog tuner cards working in ati MMC, pinnacal studio 9 and also ulead
video studio just not mce.

When you find the instructions on the ATI web site for installing MMC for
use with MCE I think you will find that sequence to do things in. I
believe
you install the drivers first. I would remove the HD card and its
current
drivers and get the SD card working fine first.

Thanks I give it a try. Should I physically remove the HDTV card or can
I
just uninstall the drivers? Should I not install the ati MMC until I
install
the HDTV otherwise the MMC won't see the HDTV? If I run the mce setup
for
the
x1800 card how do I setup the HDTV card in mce? Also there are 2
locations
for mce ati entensions one in the MMC and one in a seperate menu. They
look
different should I install one that is seperate from MMC?
This is confusing, it would be nice if ati would write install
instructions
for 2 tuner cards.

You can only b use the A
ti analog drivers for your AIW card that come with the ATI MMI 9.13 or
later
application. You need to install them using the instructions at the
ATI
Website along with the ATI Decoder used with the ATI MMI application,
sorry
I don't have the link to the instructions. After they are working you
can
then install your ATI HD card and its drivers. You will not be able
to
make
use of the analog tuner on the HD tuner card in MCE.

I have an ATI aiw x1800xl and an ATI HDTV wonder (2 analog tuners 1
digital
tuner, 2 fm tuners) The ati software (tv player), ULEAD video
studio,
pinnacle studio and movie maker 2 all works with all tuners. MCE
see
the
2
analog tuners a the digital tuner during setup but during play back
it
only
plays or records the digital tuner. The analog tuners return no
signal
the
first time I access them and from then on it will not let me access
any
analog tuner channels, only the digital. I have reinstalled all the
latest
ati drivers and rollup 2, .net 1.1. I am looking for other
suggestions
to
get
the analog tuner to work in mce.
Thanks Rob
