Re: Poor Wired Performance

Couple things to try:
- Update your PC's Ethernet card drivers to the latest version available
from Gateway's website
- Change your Ethernet card to 100 mbps full duplex if it's set to Auto
Detect or vice versa:
.. 1) Right click My Computer, select Manage, click Device Manager
.. 2) Expand Network adapters; double-click your network card
.. 3) Select the Advanced tab
.. 4) Select Link Speed & Duplex; what is the Value? Try changing it to
100Mbps/Full Duplex

I have a Gateway AMD 64 Dual Core PC running MCE. I also have an XBOX 360
running MCX. Performance was sluggish over my Netgear 802.11g network, so
I
tried going out and getting a Linksys 802.11 a/b/g router. Performance
actually was a little worse.

So I tried connecting the 360 directly to the router via a 100Mb/s
Ethernet
cable and running the MCE Network Performance Tuner. (I wanted to factor
out
the wireless stuff.) I expected that the throughput measured by the
performance tuner would be near perfect (all the bars solid green) But
the
throughput still is so bad that the performance tuner doesn't want to
allow
video. I have to check the override option to get it to work at all.

What am I missing? It works, just badly. In fact, the wireless
connection
I had previously was better.
