Re: Live TV Freezes

Media Center still freezes.

However, I found some conexant drivers on the internet. In the driver
package is a Test Blackbird application.

This program can access the capture card even after media center freezes.

It seems that there is something in the Media Center application that is
crashing - not the card or the drivers.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks to everyone for their help thus far. . .

Let me recap what I have done.

I have installed the NVIDIA MPEG Decoder. The Microsoft decoder checkup
utility.

I have installed the HP Hyperthreading patch and I have ensured that all of
the Microsoft updates have been installed.

I have the latest MediaCenter ATI drivers for my video card.

I unplugged all of my removable drives (DVD drives and floppy drive) and I
believe that my powersupply is not the problem.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Nope - No Luck.

Although with the Nvidia driver I am sometimes able to record a half hour
show, generally the LiveTV still freezes after 8 minutes. The Nvidia
driver
properties shows the bitrate at zero.

This may sound strange, but I will ask anyway. . .

I had to replace my powersupply. I found a replacement HP compatible
miniatx 200W powersupply (which is the rating on the original power
supply)
and installed it.

Could that cause liveTV to freeze?

No, the HP m370n has an intel chip.

However, that gave me an idea and I found a HP Media Center Patch for
hyperthreading intel chips (which I have).

I am going to give that a try.

Hello LEE.
Try going to this address and downloading the patch.
I know that it will work with some Media centers.
Hope it works with yours.
Here's the address:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/amdcpu.exe

Type it into the address bar at the top of your screen.

Let us know how it works out.

I have an HP m370n media center PC.

After a destructive recovery - my media center know exhibits the
following
behavior:
After a reboot, I can watch or record Live TV for about 8 minutes,
then Live
TV will freeze. If I close the media center and open it again, all I
get is
a black screen.

What could be causing this behavior?

Also, I have seen references to "running a decoder." What is this
and how
would I replace my decoder?
