problem? regular pci to component 1080i hdtv?

Probably not, because there are two different 3 color component interfaces.
VGA uses RGB component which is Red, Green, and Blue and most HDTVs use
YPrPb component , which is different see the following link for a
description of the differences. Many people get confused about this since
the cables used are the same.

The tv is an advent hdtv 1080i. The best inputs on it are component.
So would that vga -> component cable work w/ any vga video card and w/
my tv?
I'd like to get the nicest picure quality possible. I tried s-video,
but could barely read the text. I've heard component will be crystal
clear.

According to the specs his card has a VGA, a DVI, and S-video output
connectors. There is no mention in the specs of it supporting Conponet
also
by using a DVI-I connector that also supports YPrPB component using an
adapter. VGA supports for RGB adapters which are used by many PC
monitors
especally some Apple models. HDTV's usually have YPrPb component
connections which although they use the same cables do not carry the same
color signals so the user would either a VGA or DVI to YPrPb component
transcoder to change ths actual signal from one protocol to the other and
thes can cost up to $200.

Based on the card he mentioned, it should have both DVI and VGA on it.
Or
if
DVI only, it certainly came with a DVI-VGA convetor.
I was pointing out the fact that the video card is not really the
issue.
As
long as you have a DVI or VGA to HDTV YPbPr component cable you should
be
able to get a picture on the TV screen.
The other issue would be "What resolution is the video card set to for
output"? Since the TV does not appear to have DVI or VGA on it, then
you
are
going to need to set the output to match the tv timings. That is
another
whole discussion.
Just to be safe, What type of TV is being used in this scenario?

Is not not so much as you need a video card to do the component out
as
much
as you need the correct cable. For example, here is a link to a
cable
that
should meet your needs:

I get them locally at Microcenter and they work for all my HDTV
needs.

I need a pci (not pci-e) video card that can do component out to my

hdtv. I tried a evga nvidia fx 5500 w/ a dvi -> component adapter
but
couldn't get it to work. Does anyone know of a setup that works?
Any
success w/ the GeForce 6200 PCI ?
