Re: Bug with DVD Eject in MCE 2005 after I finished watching that DVD.

So you agree to let stuff like MCE or WMP connect to the internet to
retrieve additional information about your media (both during first run),
yet it is Big Brotherish?

You agreed to this, you can just as easily turn them off. But I guess it is
more convenient to claim that it is Big Brother-ish behaviour since it is
Microsoft right..

Hey, another thought, related to XP-MCE and the Internet.

A lot of MStuff, including Win Media Player, MCE, etc. tries to always be
online
to "Big Brother" to "serve you better" and in the background is always
trying to
repeatedly connect to remote Internet servers, Web sites, databases, etc.
to
either supply media content info to you &/or report on your media habits
(can we say "spyware"?) to either MS or its countless partners.

If your MCE machine is networked and has a live Internet connection, you
might try shutting off the Internet or unplugging the network cable, just
in
case the unreadable/unreachable content isn't your local DVD movie disc,
but
some
out of service Internet host, server, or Web page that it's trying to
reach
behind your back (eyeballs?).

Example: Whenever I try to play or rip an audio CD or single track in
Windows
Media Player, as soon as the drive tray closes and spins up, the software
tries
to connect to the Internet and some tracking database to learn what the
disc
and tracks info is and feed it back to me by default, even if I don't want
it or
don't care. If the network is offline or site not found, there's an
annoying delay,
(but at least that doesn't crash the program).

When I finish watching my DVD I choose EJECT from MORE MENU in MCE, the
disc
ejects, I take it, insert another, close my drive and wait til MCE
recognize
new DVD inside. But nothing happens! MCE doing something for 5-10
seconds,
then it hangs up! And nothing happens. I have to open Task Manager to
close
MCE that is NOT RESPONDING, otherwise I cant do anything with MCE!!! When
I
close MCE through Task Manager I cant start it again so I have to reboot
my
PC! Why MCE stops reading DVDs after I eject one ?
