Re: Display Problems

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Since possible BIOS settings vary a lot between systems I guess that you
just don't have any AGP options.
When you install the FX5200 do you use the BIOS to disable the onboard
video?
I assume that what you mean by not other PCI devices is that you have no
cards in any of the PCI slots, If you do make sure you are not using the
PCI slot next to the AGP slot.
When running with the 5200 what is your CPU utilization?

Yes it is an AGP card.
How do you go about eanbling fast writes and disabling overlay. I cannot
find anything like this in the bios.

The card should not be sharing an IRQ with any other devices as ther are
no
other PCI devices. only 2 hdd and 1 dvd.

OK now I understand your problem better.
1. If your FX5200 is a AGP card do you have Fast writes eanbled and
overlay
disabled in the BIOS which if I recall is what you want them to be and is
the speed of the Bus the same as that of the card?
2. Is your 5200 card sharing its IRQ with any other device? If yes you
may
have to move some cards to different slots.

Thanks Jw
The driver that i am using is 89.98
I remove the nvidia drivers by going to add/ remove programs and
removing
nvidia drivers.

The error message i get when i restart is
"Your Video card or drivers are not compatible with Media Center"
i do not have a video capture card or a tv tuner

Are you using the latest NVIDIA drivers version 81.89 from the NVIDIA
Website? If not I suggest that you try them and report back?
Also I am not aware of an error message that says that your display
adapter
is incompatible. There is an alert that says that your video card or
drivers are incompatile. however, this alert can also apply to your TV
tuner/Video capture card and possibly also to your DVD Decoder.
I also don't understand what you mean by removing the NVIDIA drivers
for
your 52000 card and using it without any drivers please explain what
you
are
doing when you do this.

Just installed MCE 2005 on an old hp Vectra P3 933mhz. I have 256mb
ram
and
nvidia club GeForce fx5200 128mb graphics card. In the normal xp
window
every
thing is fine, just a little flickery using the s-video output to
TV.
When
switched to the media centre mode the menu's are completely
illegible.
Horizontal black lines cross the screen and white lines shoot
accross
the
back ground in all directions. When you scroll through the menus the
whole
screen flickers and re-draws itself and jumps all over the place.
When
watching a dvd every thing is fine and pin sharp as are the online
features.
Its just the main menu, my pictures and my music screens that are
shot.
Its
the same on both tft monitor and tv. If i use the onboard gfx or
remove
the
nvidia drivers and use the fx5200 then it is displayed correctly, it
just
prevents me watching dvd's and tells me that my dispaly adapter is
incompatible.

Please help

Thanks
