That makes it sound suspiciously like a hard drive throughput limitation,
almost as if DMA wasn't enable for your hard drive. If you go into Device
Manager (right click My Computer --> Properties --> Hardware tab --> Device
Manager), expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, select the IDE channel your hard
drive is on, double-click it, select the Advanced Settings tab, and look
under Transfer Mode, does it say "DMA if available" or "PIO only"? Also,
what other devices (CD drives, etc.) are plugged into the same IDE cable as
your hard drive? Finally, do you have a second PC on your network that you
could try copying a large file off of? If so, please try that and then open
Task Manager on the Media Center, select the Networking tab, and verify the
bit-rate the file is copying at; is it at least 80 Mbps?

Thanks Todd for taking the time.PC
1) Yes, TV alone on the 360 setup plays ok.
2) P4 3.2 GHZ w 1.0 Gig RAM
3) Tried the setup you suggested (not sure if I have ever had these
variables going at once) - started the TV first, then played an MPG on the
and it was still choppy.If
Does this support your theory?

Confirming - if you just play TV on your Xbox 360, does it play okay?
youyes, this suggests that your network is healthy and the issue is a
bottleneck somewhere on your PC. How much RAM is in this PC? Also, if
seeplay TV on the Xbox 360 and watch a video (WMV/MPEG) on the PC, do you
rights.skipping?
