Re: Audio missing fron some recorded programmes

Thanks for the thought Fiev, but I don't think it's likely because as I said
in my original post, Elonex have already replaced both cards and the problem
still happens. I wonder if I am just unusual in using these cards for
analogue terrestrial, and most people are using DVB-T or satellite/cable, and
so not many people are suffering...?

do you have any idea if one of the cards might be faulty. could be that the
dodgy files are only coming from one of the tuners. perhaps disable one for
a while and see if you only get good files. i know you'll lose dual tuner
capability for a while, but it might isolate the glitch.

No better I'm afraid - interestingly, I have found by switching between
channels on Live TV I can make the same problem occur - 50 switches of
channels resulted in two occurances of lost audio. I don't think that's
new
with the latest drivers, just that I hadn't tried that many channel
switches
before.

Next idea please :-)

Hi

I have just purchased an Elonex Artisan LX. The two tuners are
Hauppauge
Hybrid WinTV Nova-T. I am using a standard aerial and a powered
amplifier/splitter. The signal quality is good - picture is perfect
and
most
recordings are fine. But about 1 in every 10 recordings have no
audio.
None
at all from beginning to end. All other recordings are fine. I have
copied
a
faulty recording to my desktop PC and there is no audio there either
when
played with media player, so it looks as if the tuner card is not
writing
any
audio into the MPEG stream. Elonex are stumped - they have updated
the
drivers to the latest on the Hauppage site, and have replaced both
tuner
cards. They say they have never seen this before, and a search of the
forums
both here and on Micro$oft suggests no-one else has either! I am only
trying
to hear standard stereo audio on the line out phonos, not anything
more
challenging.

Anyone got any ideas where I go from here? Is the MPEG data generated
entirely on the tuner card so the audio must go missing that early in
the
recording? Or could MCE be losing it afterwards? This fault occurs
even if
only only one of the Tuners is in use.

Hope someone can help...

Tim
