Re: XP Media Center Edition test kit.

Check the Event Viewer for installer error messages.

Also for the OP, make sure that you're using the most current version of
the Diagnostics Kit.
Windows XP Media Center Diagnostics Kit v3.0

Also make sure that the latest version of Microsoft Installer is installed.
Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2)

Hmmm...not sure what to check next. There may be some install logs that
could give a better clue as to exactly what failed during install, but I'm
not sure where to look. Maybe one of the other MVPs (Jason?) knows where
to look...

Hi, Dana ,

the error message is
"there is a problem with this Windows installer package. Aprogram run as
part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support
personnel
or package vendor."
The message appeared during installation.

I had re-downlad the test kit 3 times and The MCE OS Disc are provided by
MSDN.
The MCE O.S. has Disc1 and Disc2.
I also re-installed MCE O.S. over 3 times.

how should I do next, please?

Well, posting the exact text of the error message would help, as would
knowing _when_ it failed (during install, during use, etc).

It could be you have a failed download...you might try downloading it
again...

I'd like to request some information about Windows XP Media Center
Edition
test kit.

When I install Windows XP Media Center Edition Test Kit , it would
be
failed finally.

I had tried reinstall MSDN MCE 2005 version and reinstall MCE test
kit, it
happened the same error.

But I had no idea to deal with the issue, how should I do?

Thanks for your time!
