Re: Linksys & xbox 360 conflict when playing video files

The MCX software does not install any audio codecs on the Media Center PC,
so something else is going on. Can you fill in details regarding the specs
for the audio portion of the video if you know them? (codec, sample rate,
number of channels)

I have the exact same problem, playing MPEG-2 encoded videos specifically.
The xbox 360 media center software pack installs an audio codec that's
incompatible with the linksys mce. Everything plays fine on the xbox 360,
so
there's no problem with the mpeg-2 files themselves. Clearly a bug, and
total
support void. I tried to call xbox support about this in the hopes of
getting
a bug report filed, but that was kind of hilarious and went nowhere.

What type of video file is this? (MPEG, WMV, etc.). Also, what are the
specs for the audio portion of the video? (codec, sample rate, number of
channels). You can check both by opening the file in Windows Media
Player
then selecting File > Properties.

My Linksys extender was playing video files just fine, then I added an
xbox
360 and now the linksys extender plays the video without sound. The
video
file works find on the xbox 360. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
