Question about money!

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I hope money isn't off topic here, like some others I need to get the
best possible value for mine!

Here's my dilemma:

I would like to move to a Media Center PC.

I have:

ASUS K8V SE Deluxe MB, AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 1G of RAM, ATI Radeon 7000
with 64MB of RAM, DVD Burner, DVD ROM, 200G HD, etc. etc. running
Windows XP Pro.

To run Media Center I'd need:

An upgraded video card and a TV tuner of some type and maybe an
upgraded DVD burner and maybe some other stuff I don't know about.

I'm not planning a PC upgrade but I found this:

So.... At least $80 for a video card and about $100 for the TV Tuner
card comes to $180 IF I don't need to upgrade the DVD burner which
saves $370 over buying a new system.

The question becomes is there enough value in the slightly faster CPU,
WAY faster bus speed, double layer DVD +/_ burner (mine is single layer
and DVD +R only) and other stuff to consider buying the system?

My own thoughts are no, but I don't want to spend any money on a better
video card, etc. and find out I really did need to get the whole box.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.
