ASUS K8N
Originally used the NVIDA IDE drivers - recently switched to the Microsoft
version to see if that made any difference.

I have been having trouble with several (large) capacity disks on my
MCE2005 system - they will occasionally lose the partition info and
ultimately need to be reformatted. Can't figure out why this is
happening...
Just reformatted a disk using WD utility instead of Windows - and the
utility reported that my system was not setup to handle large disk
capacity - it needed to make a change to the registry, reboot and then
continue the disk setup. Yet, ignoring the occasional partition failure,
I have been able to read and write to the large drives installed on my
system.
I thought that any OS with SP2 (either slipstream or factory) would
automatically enable BigLBA during installation. Do I need to have a
large drive attached when doing the install inorder to activate BigLBA?
I typically install only with drive C:\ attached (80g) and then attach
the storage drives after the system is up and running. Typically, the
storage drives have been formatted and loaded on another system.
Just curious if I still need to activate Big LBA during install (or if
it's automatic).
"Windows XP manufactured prior to August 2002 has a native limitation of
137GB supporting ATA interface disc drives. In this configuration WinXP
will not create partitions greater than 137GB until after the Service
Pack is installed and registry bit EnableBigLBA is set to 1."
