Having rollup 2 is a good idea on the "general principle" that it might fix
some bugs you might have. I can't answer your question about standby modes
as I never use them. As to it making a difference between +R and -R, I know
it can for standalone DVD players. Personally I haven't seen much of a
difference between the two in burning, but I may have a tolerant drive. I do
know that some media just doesn't work in some drives, but couldn't say
which media or which drives. The drive in my older MCE tower is an HP
(almost 3 years old now) and only does +R, while the laptop (Dell 6000, with
a Sony drive) does both + and -.
Keep in mind that any media you buy in bulk is by definition "cheap media",
and the maxim "you get what you pay for" applies. I hear Verbatim makes the
best...
