Re: Media Center Extender Manager Error

That did it. I'm completely stunned. Once I did that, the process worked
100% as it should have worked from the beginning. On one hand I'm thrilled
beyond words that everything is now working as it should, on the other hand,
I'm livid that I wasted so much time on something that had such a simple
solution, and that the Microsoft programmer didn't put in a USEFUL error
message to tell me that this was my problem. It's completely inexcusable.

That's just it though, the sequence is so simple - boot up PC, run the Media
Center Extender Manager, select Setup, click next twice, changing nothing.
There's some underlying problem here with their code, because this is a
virgin MCE 2005 machine with NOTHING installed but the nVidia chipset
drivers, nVidia video card drivers, the Microsoft MPEG2 encoder lookup tool,
nVidia PureVideo MPEG2 decoder, Macromedia Flash, and the Sonic encoder for
DVD burning. The latter two were installed after I first had these problems.
So I can't imagine a more "pure" system in terms of testing.
