Re: MCE - Stutters on Recorded TV Playback

I've had plenty of different issues when settings this machine up with MCE.
First of all there were LOTS of problems when I changed from PATA so SATA.
A8N-SLI apparently has several issues with SATA, specifically Maxtor drives.
This meant updating the BIOS, and careful installation of Windows.
When I first encountered the stutters in MCE I tried changing the MPEG2
Decoder
and tried several different ones. Currently I'm using PowerDVD but I will try
the Nvidia one again now that I have installed the AMD X2 Driver.
The most serious SATA problems seem to be connected to NCQ Drives and can
be helped by turning off that feature in the drivers (available in the
Nvidia IDE driver
but I haven't found it in the standard windows driver, not sure if that one
even
supports NCQ?). The general opinion seems to be that Nvidia IDE-driver gives
more
troubles than it's worth in performance, I'm using the standard windows
driver.
There seems to have been issues with different versions of the Geforce driver
combined with the MPEG2 decoders, but I need to test the Nvidia decoder again
to see if that still has issues.
(I've also had problems due to my Razer Copperhead mouse. I think windows
detected it as a keyboard and dropped the PS2 attached keyboard, leaving me
with a mouse but no keyboard working, after Firmware updates of the mouse
this is working a lot better but there is still problems now and then with the
keyboard not working on cold boot, after restart it always works. And it also
always works before windows loads...)
I'm currently watching a movie I recorded yesterday, and it's run ok for
22mins
so far. So with a bit of luck my Stutter problems should now be solved.
Thanks all of you for the assistance and help! Greatly appreciated.
